Sausalito Books by the Bay

It all started when…

Having worked in a bookstore - selling books, hosting author events – a local entrepreneur became a bit of bookstore maven learning a lot about the quirky book business. She knew even more however about the local community and what made it tick. Having lived in Sausalito for 27+ years and being actively involved in the community she knew the Sausalito demographic is unlike any other.

Our protagonist put forth a vision of what a bookstore could be - a community supported endeavor, a venture that engaged the local residents and other businesses. A community center as well as a place to browse and buy books. A haven of learning and exchange. A place to share a cup of coffee and chat with a knowledgeable bookseller. Something you do not get to do on Amazon!

Lo and behold! Many others agreed with this concept and its champion. They enthusiastically stepped up to support this new bookshop.

Specially curated books for Sausalito including a nautical & maritime section and a showcase of local authors. All the best sellers, classics and kid’s books. Stellar collections of cookbooks, travel, regional interest books, as well as a focus on wildlife and environment. And – of course – a very robust collection of books about dogs! They even have their own “pet picks” of the month selections.
