– RECENT EVENTS –
Author Stephanie Krikorian (center) was in town visiting from her home in New York and joined us to discuss her debut book Zen Bender – a laugh out loud memoir from the talented writer. Signed copies at the front desk!
Who is this author’s publicist?! After a feature in the New York Times Magazine last month AND being featured on the cover of the New York Times Book Review the award winning author Jenny Offill was in Sausalito! In addition to an intimate literary luncheon with ladies at Poggio Trattoria, where she discussed her new book Weather, Jenny signed copies for copies of us. It’s a terrific, highly provocative read in an unconventional, fragmented format; not your usual narrative novel!
The lovely children’s book author & illustrator Elisa Klevens read from her new book Hiro’s Hats as well as entertaining local children with collage making crafts.
Academy Award Winning director Louie Psihoyos and his film crew joined us for an evening soiree to promote their new documentary The Last Place on Earth. The film is about the Leuser region in Sumatra, Indonesia – where elephants, tigers, rhinos & orangutans are threatened by climate change and the palm oil industry which are destroying their ecosystem. Ginger Cassady, Executive Director of Rainforest Action Network also spoke in support of the film effort. Thanks to everyone who supported this stellar event and worthy cause. In less than 2 hours, we raised $25,000 to ensure ongoing production of this important documentary. Consider making a donation to the project and/or buying a copy of the Leuser book in our shop. https://leuserfilm.com/donate/
We co-hosted a special event with Women Lit of the Bay Area Book Fest at the historic Pines mansion in Sausalito last month. Over 100 women came together to hear authors Cara Black, Anne Devereaux-Mills, Vanessa Hua & Vijayn Nagarajan. The mission of Women Lit is to raise women’s voices, to educate, and to inspire the world with woman-authored writing, and to expand women’s connections with each other.
